Gorillas Pull Away Against Tigers, 14-5

Box Score EDMOND, Okla. — The Pittsburg State University baseball team broke open a one-run game in the sixth inning to pull away for a 14-5 victory over East Central University Sunday (Feb. 4).
 
The Gorillas completed the four-day UCO First Pitch Classic with a 3-1 record.
 
Pitt State plated three runs in the sixth inning, one in the seventh and six more in the eighth to stretch a 4-3 cushion against ECU (0-4).
 
Blake Mozley led the Gorillas' 15-hit attack by going 4-for-5 at the plate with a double and three RBI. Austin Warkins also drove in a run and collected three hits in the contest. Josh Holmes and Karson Coffee each went 2-for-4. Holmes drove in a pair of runs and stole two bases while Coffee scored three times.
 
Alex Kafka allowed just two hit and one earned run in 4.0 innings of work. Cadyn Castellanos tossed 3.0 innings of two-hit relief.
 
Pitt State will travel to Denver, Colo., to face Regis University in a four-game series next Friday through Sunday (Feb. 9-11).
