PITTSBURG -- Cale McCallister pitched 8.0 strong innings on the mound to lead the Missouri Southern State University baseball team to a 3-1 victory over Pittsburg State University Sunday (Mar. 17) at Al Ortolani Field.
The No. 9 ranked Lions (23-5, 11-2 MIAA) took two of three games in the MIAA series from the Gorillas (18-7, 9-4 MIAA) with the victory.

MSSU's Treghan Parker hit a two-run home run off Pitt State reliever Boston Dowd in the top of the third inning for the game's first runs. Dowd entered the game one batter earlier after Gorillas' starter Brady Pacha (1-3) exited the game after 2.1 innings of work.
Pitt State got its lone runs on Austin Warkins RBI double in the bottom of the fourth inning.
The Gorillas will travel to Shawnee, Okla., Tuesday (Mar. 19) for a non-conference match-up against Oklahoma Baptist University.
