TAHLEQUAH, Okla. -- The Northeastern State University baseball team scored seven runs between the sixth and seventh innings to pull away for a 10-8 victory over Pittsburg State University Saturday (Mar. 30) at Rousey Field.
The RiverHawks (17-17, 8-12 MIAA) took two of three games in the series against the No. 24 ranked Gorillas (22-11, 13-7 MIAA).
Nixon Brannan and Daegan Brady each homered in the game for Pitt State. Brannan scored three times while Brady collected three of the Gorillas' nine hits in the contest. Pitt State jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning and the Gorillas still led, 6-3, before NSU struck for four runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Cadyn Castellanos (5-2) took the loss in relief for the Gorillas, allowing four runs over 1.1 innings of work. Starter Brady Pacha pitched into the sixth inning allowing six runs, five earned, and registering five strikeouts.
Pitt State will return home Tuesday (Apr. 2) to host Drury University in a non-conference match-up at 5 p.m. (CDT) at Al Ortolani Field.
