WICHITA -- Brady Pacha and three relievers combined on a two-hit shutout to help propel the Pittsburg State University baseball team to a 9-0 victory and a three-game series sweep over Newman University Sunday (Apr. 21) at McCarthy Field.
Pacha limited the Jets to one hit over 6.0 innings of work. He issued three walks but also fanned a season-high nine batters to pick up histhird win of the season. The Gorillas (30-15, 20-10 MIAA) reached the 30-win plateau for the fifth time in six seasons under head coach Bob Fornelli, with the lone exception being the Covid-19 shortened 2020 season that ended prematurely after 22 games played.
Dylan Kurahashi-Choy Foo continued his torrid hitting pace going 3-for-4 at the plate with a home run and four RBI. Daegan Brady also went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI in the contest. Josh Holmes also went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and a stolen base.
Alex Kafka (7th), Chase Terrell (8th) and Parker Tennill (9th) all tossed scoreless innings behind Pacha for the combined shutout, Pitt State's seventh shutout of the season.
