ROLLA, Mo. — The Pittsburg State University women's soccer team enjoyed a historic program debut with a 4-2 road win over Missouri University of Science & Technology Thursday (Sept. 5) at Allgood-Bailey Stadium.

Pitt State (1-0), competing in its first-ever match, got the scoring started against the Miners (0-1) in the 37
th minute.
Adriana Delgado capitalized on a quick restart by the Miners from a goal kick, stealing the ball and squaring it back to forward
McKenna Robinson. Robinson then slotted it into the bottom right corner of the goal for the first goal in program history.

In the second half, the Gorillas struck again in the 52
nd minute off a corner kick hit to
Carrie Cunningham who passed it to
Jadyn Newell before poking it towards
River Riley. Riley smashed the ball into the bottom right corner of the goal, giving Pitt State a 2-0 advantage.

The Miners fought back with goals in the 59
th and 66
th minute to tie it up, before two late goals sealed the win for the Gorillas.

In the 75
th minute,
Madison Monson settled a deflected shot by
Dylann Ehegartner and hit a right-footed effort in the 18-yard box into the bottom left corner of the goal. To seal the game,
Dallie Hill hit a left-footed shot into the right side netting of the goal in the 83
rd minute with
Sophia See picking up the assist to make it 4-2.

For the game, the Gorillas got off 16 shots with nine being on goal. Pitt State tallied four goals, five assists and 10 corner kicks taken.

The Gorillas will look to build off the program-first victory by traveling to Alva, Okla., for a Sunday (Sept. 8) match-up against Northwestern Oklahoma State University. The match will start at Noon (CDT) at Ranger Soccer Field.
