Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Gorillas Blank Rangers 3-0 to Remain Unbeaten

ALVA, Okla. – The Pittsburg State University women's soccer team capped its first week of intercollegiate play with a shutout win over Northwestern Oklahoma State University Sunday (Sept. 8).

The Gorillas improved to 2-0 on the young season with a 3-0 victory over the Rangers after claiming a 4-2 road win over Missouri S&T in the program's inaugural match Thursday.

Pitt State (2-0) opened the scoring against the Rangers (0-1-1) in the 38th minute. Carrie Cunningham began the scoring action by dribbling from the halfway line towards goal and getting a shot off near the six-yard box that was saved by goalkeeper Emily Jantz and deflected back to Pitt State's McKenna Robinson. Robinson attempted to chip the goalkeeper and several defenders but her shot hit off the crossbar and landed at Sophia See's feet. See then calmly slotted it into the goal.

In the second half, the Gorillas added two more goals to provide the final 3-0 scoreline. In the 52nd minute, Robinson sent a ball over the top of Mia Hunt who dribbled it into the 18-yard box and squared it to See for a calm right-footed finish into the bottom right corner of the goal.

To conclude the scoring, Sophia Agramon collected a pass from Hanna Carlisle past the halfway line and ripped a left-footed shot from outside the 18-yard box past the diving Rangers goalkeeper into the left side netting of the goal in the 85th minute.

For the game, Pittsburg State got off 21 shots, including 13 shots on goal, for three goals. NWOSU fired 13 shots, 11 on goal, in the match.

Robinson led the team with six shots, while Jadyn Newell, Carlisle and Robinson tied for the team lead with two shots on goal each.

Sabrina Schilt started the game in goal for the Gorillas and recorded three saves before Jocelyn Kramar came in for the second half. Kramar posted eight saves to help preserve the shutout.

Up next, the Gorillas will return to campus to host East Central University (1-1-0) Thursday (Sept. 12) in the program's first-ever home match. The contest is slated for a 3 p.m. (CDT) start against the Tigers.
