PITTSBURG - The Pittsburg State University volleyball team picked up two sweeps to conclude the Gorilla Classic Saturday (Sept. 7) at John Lance Arena.
The Gorillas (3-1) began the day with Western Colorado (0-4), going 25-21, 25-14, 25-18 and ended the day with Southwest Baptist (2-2) going 25-14, 25-18, 25-19.
Against WCU,
Vix Vilott led the team with eight kills and
Jesa Wallace dished out 19 assists to lead the team.
Josie McCroskey finished with 15 digs and
Carly Clennan had a hand in three blocks to lead the Gorillas.
In the nightcap against the Bearcats,
Ivy Fink and
Anna Dean led the team with eight kills each. Wallace dished out 15 assists to lead the team as McCroskey and Vilott tied for the team lead with 12 digs, and Clenan led the team with six total blocks.
The Gorillas will return to action Thursday (Sept. 12) in Denton, Texas against Henderson State at 7:00 p.m. (CDT) as part of the Denton Volleyfest hosted by Texas Woman's University at Kitty Magee Arena.Â
