PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University women's basketball team stretched a seven-point margin into a 21-point lead in the pivotal third quarter as the Gorillas downed visiting University of Central Oklahoma, 84-56, Saturday (Jan. 18).

Pitt State (16-2, 8-0 MIAA) streaked to its seventh consecutive win with the victory over the Bronchos. UCO dropped its fourth straight decision in sliding to 4-13 (3-5 MIAA) on the year.

Macie Mays posted 16 points apiece to pace the Gorillas offensive attack while
Karenna Gerber logged her 31
st career double-double with 15 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Gerber made all six of her shots from the floor as Pitt State converted 56.7 percent (34-60) of its attempts on the day.

Sydney Holmes also chipped in with 14 points and seven rebounds and
Harper Schreiner dished out a game-high nine assists.

UCO got 17 points from LaKysia Johnson in the losing effort.

Pitt State, ranked No. 12 in the most recent WBCA NCAA Division II Top 25 poll, will return to action next Saturday (Jan. 25) in a road tilt against Missouri Southern State University.
