PITTSBURG —
Karenna Gerber poured in a career high 35 points to help lead the Pittsburg State University women's basketball team to a 91-71 victory over the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith Thursday (Jan. 2) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.

Gerber scored 23 of her points in the second half after the Gorillas had built a 42-35 cushion at halftime. She made 10 of 14 shots from the floor and added 15 of 16 shooting at the free throw line in the contest.

No. 14 ranked Pitt State improved to 11-2 on the season and 3-0 in MIAA play with the lopsided win over the Lions (8-4, 2-1 MIAA).

Grace Pyle added 20 points, eight rebounds and five assists while
Macie Mays chipped in with 16 points. The Gorillas shot 51.7 percent from the field in the game, making 31 of 60 attempts. Pitt State outscored UAFS, 23-6, at the foul line.

Gerber posted her 27
th career double-double by adding 12 rebounds to her scoring total.

The Lions got 16 points from Anna Trusty and 13 points from Telisha Brown. Sinetra Jones finished with eight points, five rebounds and five blocked shots.

The Gorillas will return to action Saturday (Jan. 4) by hosting Northeastern State University at 1:30 p.m. (CST).
