Jordan Frison scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Pittsburg State University men's basketball team to an 86-76 road win over Newman University Thursday (Jan. 9) at Fugate Gymnasium.
The Gorillas (8-7, 4-2 MIAA) built a 17-point second half lead and rode that momentum to victory two days after failing to hold an identical advantage in a one-point home loss to Missouri Southern.
Frison made eight of 16 shots from the floor, including five 3-pointers on the night. He added six rebounds and dished out nine assists.
R.J. Forney Jr. added 19 points, while also knocking down five treys, and Wichita native
Tanner Mans chipped in with 15 points, five rebounds and seven assists.
Pitt State shot 51.8 percent from the field in the game, making 29 of 56 shots overall. The Gorillas converted 13 3-pointers and made an economical 15 of 17 free attempts.
Sam Summerhalder paced four Jets (9-5, 2-3 MIAA) players in double figures with 21 points.
