WICHITA, Kan. – The Pittsburg State University women's soccer team picked up a 3-1 road win over the Newman University Jets on Friday (Oct. 17).

Newman (1-10-2, 0-6-1 MIAA) got the first goal of the game in the 5
th minute from a Delphine Sosu far post shot inside the 18-yard box. The Gorillas (9-2-2, 4-1-2 MIAA) in response got goals from
Hailey Green in the 31
st minute,
Shayla Hunt in the 53
rd and
Carrie Cunningham in the 82
nd minutes.
Mia Hunt,
Abby Hoffman and
Ella Cazzavillan picked up assists.

For the match, Pitt State held a 20-2 shot advantage and for shots on goal it was 12-2 in favor of the Gorillas. Cazzavillan led the team with four shots and was one of four to finish with two shots on goal.

Up next for the Gorillas will be the final home weekend of the regular season, beginning on Friday (Oct. 24) against the Missouri Western State University Griffons. Kickoff from the Gorilla Soccer Pitch is set for 3:00 p.m. (CT).
