PITTSBURG - The Pittsburg State University women's soccer team picked up a key 2-0 win at home against the Missouri Western State University Griffons on Friday (Oct. 24) at the Gorilla Soccer Pitch.
The Gorillas (10-2-2, 5-1-2 MIAA) kept pace in the MIAA hunt with three key points over the Griffons (8-2-4, 4-2-2 MIAA).
Danae Hobson picked up her fourth goal of the season in the 43rd minute, stealing the ball from the MWSU goalkeeper Morgan Byrd near the six-yard box before slotting it home into the left side netting.
Livi Jones finished off the match in the 82nd minute with a long free kick threading through a crowd in the 18-yard box before bouncing into the bottom right corner of the goal.
Jocelyn Kramar picked up her seventh shutout of the season with a season-high six saves.
A fiercely contested match, that featured bouts of heavy rain and steady breezes, the Gorillas fired off 12 shots with five being on goal compared to Missouri Western's 10 shots with six being on goal.
