PITTSBURG – The Pittsburg State University men's cross country team finished second at the 2025 MIAA Championships Saturday (Oct. 25) at Four Oaks Golf Course in Pittsburg.
The Gorillas placed three runners among the top nine individuals and posted a score of 65 points in the meet. Northwest Missouri State University captured the conference crown with a low score of 54 points.

Nathan Hinrichs paced the Pitt State squad in the eight-kilometer race by placing fourth overall in 24 minutes, 41.78 seconds. Redshirt junior
Dylan Sprecker followed close behind in sixth place in 24:47.61, while redshirt junior
Tyler Atkins placed ninth (24:56.97).

Jordan Kilonzo (34
th 26:01.66) rounded out the Gorillas top five finishers.
NWMSU's Aziz Mohammed won the race in 24:16.06.
The Gorillas, who entered the meet ranked No. 14 in the USTFCCCA NCAA Division II Top 30 poll, were seeking their third MIAA title in five seasons. Pitt State captured MIAA crowns in 2021 and 2023.
The Gorillas will now prepare for the 2025 NCAA Division II Central Regional, which will take place Nov. 8 at Joplin, Mo.
