PITTSBURG —
Connor Rogers and
Mason English combined for 46 points to help lead the Pittsburg State University men's basketball team to a 94-74 victory over Minnesota State University-Moorhead in the final game of the Central Region Challenge Saturday (Nov. 15).
The Gorillas (2-0) shot 54.5 percent from the field in the first half to build a 45-34 advantage at the intermission and never looked back against the Dragons (0-2).
Rogers, who fired in a season high 39 points against Sioux Falls Friday, finished with a game high 24 points against MSU-M after making 10 of 16 shots from the floor. English added 22 points and five assists in the contest.
Landon Short added 16 points and
Donald Coats chipped in with 12 for the Gorillas. Short posted a team-leading six rebounds in the game, while Coats added five boards. Pitt State finished the game 33 of 62 from the field for a 53.2 percent shooting night.
The Dragons got 20 points from Sam Hastreiter and 14 points from Tysen Gerads.
The Gorillas will return to John Lance Arena to host the Pitt State Classic next Thursday and Friday (Nov. 20-21). Pitt State will take on Maryville University and Oklahoma Baptist University in the two-day, classic format tournament.
