Ja'Miya Brown and
Harper Schreiner combined for 38 points to lead the Pittsburg State University women's basketball team to a 66-62 overtime road win over Northwestern Oklahome State University Thursday (Nov. 20).
Brown posted a double-double with career highs of 20 points and 11 rebounds to help the No. 2 ranked Gorillas improve to 3-0 on the season.
Brown hit a pivotal 3-pointer with 39 seconds remaining in overtime to stake Pitt State to a 66-62 advantage. NWOSU (2-1) got two free throws from Summya Adigun to trim the margin to 66-64 with 25 ticks left, but Pitt State's
Marin Adams sealed the win with a pair of free throws 15 seconds later.
Brown made seven of 14 shots from the field, including five of 10 from distance. Schreiner chipped in with 18 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Adams finished with eight points, nine rebounds and a team-leading six assists.
Clara Swearingen made three treys to add nine points, while
Amanda Byrnes posted six points, four rebounds and five blocked shots.
Adigun paced the Rangers with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
The Gorillas will make their home debut next Tuesday (Nov. 25) by hosting Texas Woman's University at 5:30 p.m. (CST) at John Lance Arena.
