KANSAS CITY, Mo. - For the first time in program history the Pittsburg State University women's soccer team is ranked in the USC (United Soccer Coaches) Top-25 Poll, coming in at No. 24 as announced by the organization on Tuesday (Nov. 4).
Pittsburg State on the season is 13-2-2 overall and 8-1-2 in the MIAA, currently in second place in the league standings with 26 points. Riding a five-match winning streak, the Gorillas have beaten ranked opponents 1-0 in back-to-back weeks (Oct. 26, No. 23 Northwest Missouri & Nov. 2, No. 18 Central Missouri). Heading into the final match of the regular season on Wednesday (Nov. 5), the Gorillas have a chance to claim the regular season title in only the program's second season and will host a MIAA Tournament First Round match on Sunday (Nov. 9).
