LAWTON, Okla. - The Pittsburg State University women's basketball team picked up a 73-51 win over hosts Cameron University to begin the Fairfield Inn & Suites Holiday Classic inside the Aggie Gymnasium on Friday (Dec. 19).
For the No. 12 Gorillas (8-2),
Ja'Miya Brown finished with a game-high 23 points and six steals after going 10-of-15 from the field and 3-of-6 from distance.
Marin Adams and
Kaycee McCumber both finished with 11 points, followed by
Hannah Miller with nine to round out the top scorers for Pittsburg State. McCumber finished with a game-high eight rebounds in 17 minutes.Â
Madison Griggs led Cameron (0-10) with 20 points as Aminata Diallo was the other Aggie to score in double figures with 10 points.
Leading 31-23 at the half, Pitt State used a 19-2 run in the third quarter to open up the game and never looked back. As a team the Gorillas shot .473 from the field while sinking eight three pointers and 13 free throws. On the glass, PSU held a +10 advantage, coming away with 37 rebounds.
Up next for the Gorillas will be the Western Colorado University Mountaineers on Saturday (Dec. 20) at 2:00 p.m. (CT) inside the Aggie Gymnasium to conclude the Fairfield Inn & Suites Holiday Classic for both teams.
