Dougan Named NCBWA NCAA Division II National Pitcher of the Week

DALLAS -- Pittsburg State University senior righthander Kolby Dougan was selected the NCAA Division II National Pitcher of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America (NCBWA) today (Feb. 13).

Dougan fired a complete-game one-hitter and tied a school record with 16 strikeouts to help lead the Gorillas to a 12-0 victory over Truman State University at Al Ortolani Field last Saturday (Feb. 8). The Topeka native came one strike away from a no-hitter before the Bulldogs' Dakota Joggerst broke up the no-hit bid. Dougan bounced back to record his 16th and final strikeout three pitchers later to end the game. He allowed just one walk and posted a .045 batting average to 22 batters faced in the game.

Dougan, who has been named both the MIAA Pitcher of the Week and the Central Region Pitcher of the Week, in each of his first two starts for the Gorillas, is 2-0 on the season with a 0.75 ERA. He has allowed just three hits and three walks while registering 28 strikeouts in 12.0 innings pitched. Dougan transferred to Pitt State from the University of Kansas.
