MARYVILLE, Mo. -- The Pittsburg State University men's basketball team logged its fifth straight victory with an 89-77 road win over Northwest Missouri State University Saturday (Feb. 15) at Bearcat Arena.
Jordan Frison led a balanced offensive attack with a team-leading 18 points as the Gorillas placed six players in double figures in the contest. Pitt State improved to 15-9 overall and 11-4 in MIAA play to keep its foothold on second place in the conference standings. The Bearcats (4-20, 2-13 MIAA) dropped their 10th straight decision.
Frison made eight of 11 shots from the field and dished out a game-high eight assists. He paced a Pitt State offense that shot 64.7 percent from the floor for the game, making 33 of 51 attempts.
Avery Taggart added 16 points, while
R.J. Forney Jr. chipped in with 14.
Tane Prictor (12),
Tanner Mans (11) and
Evan Jackson (11) also posted double-digit scoring figures.
NWMSU got a game-high 23 points from Ja'Vion Byers and 17 more from Luke Moustakas.
The Gorillas halted a 16-game losing streak at Bearcat Arena with the win Sautday as well as a 17-game losing streak in the series overall.
Pitt State will continue the second half of its current four-game road swing with MIAA match-ups against Fort Hays State University and the University of Nebraska-Kearney next week.
