Frison's Electric Night Lifts Pitt State to 100-93 Road Win

KEARNEY, Neb. — Jordan Frison enjoyed a historic night to lead the Pittsburg State University men's basketball team to a 100-93 road win over the University of Nebraska-Kearney Thursday (Feb. 20) at the Health & Sports Center.

Frison scored a team-leading 26 points, including 10 points in the game's final 2:45, and dished out a school record 18 assists in the high scoring affair at the Health & Sports Center. Pitt State (16-9, 12-4 MIAA) posted its sixth straight win in the contest against the Lopers (10-14, 8-8 MIAA).

Frison's assist total is the No. 2 all-time single-game mark in MIAA history. Andy Newton of former MIAA member Missouri State University dished out 21 assists in a game against Kentucky Wesleyan on Mar. 1, 1975.

UNK trailed Pitt State by one point, 92-91, with 59 seconds to play in the game following Allen Taylor's layup, but made six of six free throws to stake the Gorillas to a 98-91 advantage with 14 ticks remaining.

R.J. Forney Jr. and Avery Taggard each made seven of 10 shots from the field for the Gorillas. Forney made six of nine 3-point field goal attempts and finished with 20 points. Taggert connected on five of six treys while posting 19 points in the game. Tanner Mans (15) and Evan Jackson (14) also scored in double figures. Frison connected on seven of 17 shots from the floor and he knocked down 12 of 14 free throw attempts.

Taylor poured in a game-high 29 points for the Lopers, while Ja'Bryant Hill finished with 25 points. Chase Thompson (19) and D.J. Jamerson (10) also scored in double figures for UNK.

Pitt State will travel to Hays, Kan., to battle Fort Hays State University Saturday (Feb. 22) at 4 p.m. (CST) at Gross Memorial Coliseum.
