Dougan Named MIAA Pitcher of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Pittsburg State University right-handed pitcher Kolby Dougan was named the MIAA Pitcher of the Week Monday (Feb. 3) following the opening weekend of action for the 2025 season.

Dougan retired 14 of the first 16 batters he faced in his Pitt State debut Sunday against MSU Denver at Edmond, Okla. The graduate transfer from the University of Kansas held the Roadrunners hitless over the first 4.2 innings of play while registering 11 strikeouts among his first 14 outs. Dougan allowed a leadoff walk to open the game but then struck out the side in the frame. He also hit a batter to open the second frame but once again struck out the side to end the inning.

Dougan exited the game after 5.0 innings, allowing one run on two hits with 12 strikeouts. He earned the win in the Gorillas 11-2 victory over the Roadrunners. Pitt State completed the opening weekend with a perfect 3-0 record at the Edmond First Pitch Classic.
