OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Pittsburg State University began the UCO/OC Classic with wins over Missouri S&T and No. 20 Southern Nazarene on Friday (Feb. 7) at Tom Heath Field.
For the day the Gorillas claimed a 10-5 win against Missouri S&T (0-6) in the morning before ending the night with a 7-6 win over No. 20 Southern Nazarene (5-2).Â
Pitt State (5-2) was led in the first game by a three RBI game from
Lexi Davis with
Alleyna Rushing and
Sophia Driver hitting their first home runs of the season.
Ava Laurent picked up her third win of the season with six strikeouts in five innings.
In the afternoon matchup against the Crimson Storm, the Gorillas got a grand slam from
Kyleigh Lamont in the seventh that ended up being responsible for the game winning run.
Heather Arnett,
Courtney Storey and Rushing collected an RBI with Storey leading the offense going 3-of-4.
Aydenne Brown picked up her second win of the season with a three strikeout complete game performance.
Tomorrow Pittsburg State will play Western New Mexico at 10:30 a.m. (CST) and close out the weekend tournament against hosts No. 24 Oklahoma Christian at 3:00 p.m. at Tom Heath Field.
