OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Graduate transfer
Aydenne Brown pitched the sixth no-hitter in Pittsburg State softball history on Saturday (Feb. 8) in the UCO/OC Classic at Tom Heath Field.
The Gorillas (6-3) began the day with a 3-0 victory over Western New Mexico (3-6) before ending the night with a 3-1 loss to hosts No. 20 Oklahoma Christian (6-1).
Brown pitched against the Mustangs, finishing with 10 strikeouts and two walks in the seven inning no-hitter.
Amaya Snyder,
Kyleigh Lamont and
Sophia Hoffmann recorded an RBI each with Snyder and
Courtney Storey each finishing with two hits.Â
In the weekend finale, the Gorillas were led by
Trista Peterson with a sacrifice fly RBI in the fourth to tie it up 1-1. The Eagles responded in the bottom half with a two run bottom half of the fourth and kept the lead, ultimatley for a 3-1 final score.
Up next for the Gorillas will be a road doubleheader against Southwest Baptist on Saturday (Feb. 15) beginning at Noon at the SBU Softball Field.
