EDMOND, Okla. - The Pittsburg State University softball team began MIAA play on the road against No. 13 Central Oklahoma at Gerry Pinkson Stadium on Friday (Mar. 7), losing the double header in close games.
For the Gorillas (13-7, 0-2 MIAA)Â in the first game,
Kadyn Trochim collected her fourth home run of the season and
Ava Sarwinski led the team with two runs driven in.
In the fourth inning Trochim's home run and Sarwinski's RBI ground out gave Pitt State a 2-1 lead over the Bronchos (20-3, 2-0 MIAA). UCO responded in the fifth inning with a solo home run and RBI double to retake the lead, 3-2. Sarwinski hit a single down the left field line to score a pinch running
Emily Ades and tie it up 3-3 in the top of the sixth before another solo home run by Central Oklahoma in the bottom half gave them the lead and ultimately provided to be the game winning run.
UCO claimed game two, 2-1 with a pair of one run innings.

Emily Ades accounted for all of the Gorillas hits in the game, with Ades being responsible for the RBI single in the seventh inning.
Up next for Pittsburg State will be the Newman University Jets on Saturday (Mar. 8) for a twinbill to end the weekend, beginning at Noon from the NU Softball Field.
