WICHITA — The Pittsburg State University softball team swept an MIAA doubleheader from Newman University Saturday (Mar. 8).

Aydenne Brown and
Lexi Franklin combined to limit the Jets to a pair of hits in an 11-1 game one run-rule victory over the Jets. Brown fanned four batters in 3.0 innings of work. Franklin allowed one run on one hit and a sacrifice fly in 2.0 innings of relief wor.

Kadyn Trochim and
Trista Peterson each homered in the contest. Pitt State broke open a 2-0 game with an eight-run third inning.

In game two, the Gorillas (15-7, 2-2 MIAA) needed extra innings to pull out a 7-6 victory over the Jets in 10 innings.

Lexi Davis doubled to open the top of the 10
th and
Emily Ades beat out an infield single while advancing Davis to third. Ades then stole second base and Davis scored on an error on the play.

Brown (7-3) slammed the door in the bottom of the 10
th to earn the win. She limited the Jets (4-20, 0-4 MIAA) to one hit in 4.0 innings of relief work in the contest.

Heather Arnett went 3-for-6 with a double, two runs scored and two RBI, while
Sophia Driver also drove in a pair of runs.
