KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Pittsburg State University women's basektball team is back in the MIAA Postseason Tournament Championship Game for a second straight season.

The top-seeded Gorillas, the defending MIAA Tournament champs and the 2024-25 MIAA regular season champion, dispatched Washburn University, 71-57, in the semifinals Saturday (Mar. 8). The Gorillas will meet the winner of Saturday's second semifinal match-up between Fort Hays State University and Missouri Western State University Sunday (Mar. 9) at 3:30 p.m. (CST) at Municipal Auditorium.

The Gorillas, who improved to 28-3 on the season, scored the game's first five points and rushed out to a 19-2 lead six minutes into the game to take control early.

Karenna Gerber paced the Pitt State offensive attack with 26 points, while
Grace Pyle added 19 points and
Macie Mays finished with 18. The Gorillas, who never trailed in the contest, limited the Ichabods (18-13) to 36 percent shooting on the night.

Adelyn Amekporfor and Yiibari Nwidadah paced Washburn with 12 points apiece.

Pitt State will make its fourth all-time MIAA Tournament Championship Game appearance Sunday. The Gorillas finished as tournament runner-up in 1991-92 and 2015-16 before capturing the 2023-24 MIAA Tournament title.

Pitt State has posted a 17-31 overall record in 33 trips to the MIAA Postseason Tournament.
