Bugner Named MIAA Hitter of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Pittsburg State University junior infielder Drew Bugner has been named the MIAA Hitter of the Week for baseball today (Apr. 14).

Bugner hit .556 (10-18) with nine runs scored, two home runs and eight RBI while helping Pitt State to a 4-0 week. The Wichita native hit safely in all four games, extending his current hitting streak to 16 games.

Bugner went 3-for-5 with three runs scored, a double, a home run and two RBI in the Gorillas 8-5 win over Missouri Southern Wednesday (Apr. 9). He also went 4-for-5 with three runs scored, a double, a home run and three RBI in Pitt State's 6-4 victory over Rogers State Friday (Apr. 11). Bugner also logged a pair of hits and three runs scored in the Gorillas 15-1 win over the Hillcats Sunday as Pitt State matched a program record with its 12th consecutive victory.

For the season, Bugner leads the MIAA with a .437 average. He has 11 doubles, a pair of home runs and 32 RBI in 26 games played for the Gorillas.
