ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- The Pittsburg State University baseball team got methodical offensive production and a quality start from
Tanner Leslie on the mound in a decisive 11-1 win over Missouri Western State University Saturday (Apr. 26).
The No. 17 ranked Gorillas (35-9, 23-9 MIAA) racked up their 35th win of the season and claimed the series victory over the Griffons (13-30, 11-22 MIAA). The two squads will complete the series Sunday with the rubber game set for a 1 p.m. start.
Dagen Brewer and
Nixon Brannan collected three hits apiece to pace Pitt State's 16-hit attack. Brewer and
Kadyn Williams each had doubles in the contest.
Leslie (5-2) scattered eight hits over 7.0 innings of work. He walked one and recorded a pair of strikeouts.
Brett Wiemers worked a scoreless eighth inning for the Gorillas.
