ALISO VIEJO, Calif. - Pittsburg State University junior shortstop
Heather Arnett repeats as a first-team Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-American as announced by the organization today (May 22).
Arnett earned first-team honors from the D2CCA last season in the outfield and this season as a shortstop. The Pittsburg, Kan., native is the second Gorilla in program history to have two All-American seasons in their career with Amandda DeCastro (2009-12) the first to do so.
This season Arnett finished with a .495 batting average from 95 hits in 192 at bats, scored 63 runs while stealing 40 bases in 43 attempts to go with 30 runs batted in and 14 doubles. From the leadoff spot in the lineup Arnett posted a .651 slugging percentage and a .519 on base percentage. In the field she recorded 88 putouts and 76 assists while holding a .937 fielding percentage.
Among Division II ranks this season she is first in batting average, third in hits, seventh in runs scored and runs scored per game (1.17), 12th in stolen bases, 21st in stolen bases per game (0.74), 27th in on base percentage, 32nd in stolen base percentage (.930) and 38th in total bases (125).
Among active NCAA softball players regardless of division her 117 career steals ranks 13th and 260 career hits ranks 18th. She is 1 of 17 active softball players in the NCAA ranks to have 200+ career hits and 100+ career stolen bases, while being 1 of 2 to accomplish the feat by their junior season.
