EDMOND, Okla - The Pittsburg State University softball team fell in a close 2-1 duel against No. 16 Rogers State on Thursday (May 8) at Gerry Pinkston Stadium.

The two teams would be held off the board in the fourth frame before a Kaylee Lyon RBI single up the middle scored Abbey Rogers, giving the Hillcats a 2-1 advantage in the fifth. In the sixth inning, the Gorillas had runners on first and second with two outs before a sharp line drive destined for right field was snagged by Bridgett Morales at first base to persevere the Rogers State lead.
Emily Ades went 2-of-3 to tie with Arnett for the team lead with two hits.
Aydenne Brown and
Ava Laurent combined to strikeout seven Hillcats in 6.0 innings of work.
Up next for the Gorillas is an elimination game against Minnesota State - Mankato on Friday (May 9) at approximately 3:30 p.m. (CDT) at Gerry Pinkston Stadium. Winner of this matchup will play in another elimination game against the loser of the Central Oklahoma vs. Rogers State game earlier in the day at 6:00 p.m.
