Gorillas Fall In Close 2-1 Battle Against No. 16 Rogers State

EDMOND, Okla - The Pittsburg State University softball team fell in a close 2-1 duel against No. 16 Rogers State on Thursday (May 8) at Gerry Pinkston Stadium.

Rogers State (38-13) struck first with a solo home run down the left field line from Savannah Evans in the second inning. Pitt State (38-15) tied it up in the third off a Courtney Storey single to the shortstop, scoring Heather Arnett.

The two teams would be held off the board in the fourth frame before a Kaylee Lyon RBI single up the middle scored Abbey Rogers, giving the Hillcats a 2-1 advantage in the fifth. In the sixth inning, the Gorillas had runners on first and second with two outs before a sharp line drive destined for right field was snagged by Bridgett Morales at first base to persevere the Rogers State lead.
