PITTSBURG - The Pittsburg State University women's soccer team picked up a gritty 1-0 victory on Saturday (Sept. 13) at the Gorilla Soccer Pitch.
Pittsburg State (3-1) was held in check in the first half by Southern Nazarene (1-2-1), as the Gorillas fired off 10 shots (five shots on goal) in the opening 45 minutes.Â
Macy Malik put the Gorillas on the board in the 55th minute with a far post shot just outside the 18-yard box. The two teams had chances late in the match as both squads battled through a scoring afternoon on the turf.
Up next for Pitt State will be Southwestern Oklahoma on Thursday (Sept. 18) on the Gorilla Soccer Pitch at 4:00 p.m. (CDT).
