PITTSBURG - The Pittsburg State University women's soccer team picked up a 4-1 home win against Southwestern Oklahoma on Thursday (Sept. 18) at the Gorilla Soccer Pitch.
Pittsburg State (4-1) got on the scoreboard early with a 5th minute goal from
Carrie Cunningham, with
Abby Hoffman picking up the assist. In the 13th minute,
Ella Cazzavillan scored her third goal of the season with
Livi Jones and
Jocelyn Kramar notching assists.
Mia Hunt converted from the penalty spot in the 42nd minute to give the Gorillas a 3-0 lead heading into the half.
Sailor Jensen picked up her third goal of the season with
Avianna Gonzalez and
Danae Hobson picking up assists on the 53rd minute goal. SWOSU (4-1) converted from the penalty spot in the 74th minute but suffered their first setback of the season. The Bulldogs came into the contest having scored 13 goals over the first two weekends of the season and back-to-back five goal showings against Newman and Missouri Southern.
Cunningham led the team with five shots while sharing the team lead for shots on goal with two with Cazzavillan and
Shayla Hunt.Â
The Gorillas will end the week on the road against East Central on Saturday (Sept. 20) at the Tiger Soccer Stadium, kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. (CT).
