ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Pittsburg State University volleyball team began the Bettye Wallace Invitational with a five set defeat against the Quincy University Hawks on Friday (Sept. 19) at the Duke Wells Center.
For the Gorillas (5-3),
Maliyah Johnson led the team with 17 kills (.349) while chipping in with five total blocks and six digs.
Vix Vilott finished with 14 kills and 11 digs for her third double-double of the season.
Abby Carr (21) and
Jesa Wallace (20) split setting duties with
Josie McCroskey providing a match-high 25 digs and nine assists.
Anna Dean came away with 10 total blocks, her second match this season in which she reached double figure blocking totals.
Quincy (6-2) claimed the match with set scores of 16-25, 25-19, 25-23, 24-26, 15-9.
Up next for Pittsburg State will be the Drury University Panthers on Saturday (Sept. 20) at approximately 3:30 p.m. (CT), followed by ending the weekend tournament against hosts Henderson State at 7:30 p.m. at the Duke Wells Center.
