ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Pittsburg State University women's volleyball team picked up a four set victory over Drury to begin the day on Saturday (Sept. 20), falling in three sets to hosts Henderson State at the Duke Wells Center to conclude the Bettye Wallace Invitational.
The Gorillas (6-4) in game one of the day against Drury (7-4), recorded set scores of 24-26, 25-20, 26-24, 25-21. Henderson State (7-6) in game two of the day for Pitt State finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-22, 25-19.
Anna Dean led the team with 14 kills (.600) and four total blocks against DU,
Julia Hicks finished with 13 kills (.619) in three sets.
Jesa Wallace (28) and
Abby Carr (20) split setting duties.
Josie McCroskey collected a match-high 22 digs.
Against HSU, the Gorillas were led by
Maliyah Johnson with 12 kills. Wallace led the team with 21 assists, finishing with a double-double with 12 digs.Â
Up next for Pittsburg State will be the beginning of MIAA play on Friday (Sept. 26) against Arkansas - Fort Smith at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court, first serve is set for 6:00 p.m. (CT).
