Box Score FORT SMITH, Ark. - The Pittsburg State University women's basketball team picked up a lopsided 79-56 victory over the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Lions on Thursday (Jan. 1) at Gayle Kaundart Arena.
As a team, Pittsburg State (10-2, 3-0 MIAA) never trailed in the game after scoring on the first possession, shot .446 from the field, .435 behind the arc and .846 from free throws for the game. Arkansas - Fort Smith (1-11, 0-3 MIAA) as a team shot .328 from the field, .444 from limited shots from distance and .750 from free throws.
Leading the charge for the Gorillas was
Harper Schreiner with 18 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.
Ja'Miya Brown chipped in with 18 points and five rebounds with
Marin Adams providing 15 points to round out the members of the team to finish in double figures for points.
Pitt State claimed 43 rebounds, 13 being offensive, scored 32 points in the paint and 20 second chance points while providing 13 assists and committing seven turnovers.
UAFS was led by D'Ajha Horton with 14 points off the bench as Marie-Rose Priscilla Balowa Kasambu Babenesha Wemba, sister of
Marie Wembadjonga was the other member of the Lions to score in double figures with 11 points and a team-high nine rebounds.
