PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University men's and women's indoor track & field teams will host the PSU Invitational Saturday (Jan. 31) at the Robert W. Plaster Center.
Field events will start at 10 a.m. (CST) with action on the track beginning at 11 a.m. Nearly 900 athletes from 30 schools from the junior college, NAIA, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division I ranks will join the Gorillas in the competition. MIAA foes Central Oklahoma, Missouri Southern and Rogers State will compete in the meet.
Admission is $5. Children 12 & under are free as are PSU students with I.D.

The Pitt State women debuted at No. 1 in the first NCAA Division II National Track & Field Rating Index (TFRI) released by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The Gorillas currently own 15 national top 10 marks.
Rachel Wilson is ranked No. 1 in the high jump (5-10.5), while
Isabelle Peters (pole vault, 13-9.75),
Blakelee Winn (pentathlon, 3889 pts.) and the 4x400m relay (3:45.03) all are ranked No. 2 in D2 in their respective disciplines.
Kayvon Nubine is ranked No. 3 in the 60m hurdles (8.38), while
Lily Brown (pentathlon, 3708 pts) and
Paige Mullen (5000m, 16:09.40) both are currently seeded fourth.

The Pitt State men, the defending NCAA-II National Champions, drew the No. 2 ranking in the TFRI. The Gorillas secured eight top 10 national performances last week in the Rumble in the Jungle Invitational. Overall, Pitt State has 12 top 10 national marks on the season.

Caden Williams and Nate Wilson is currently ranked No. 2 (3:08.95), while
Drew Wilhite is ranked second in the heptathlon (5182 pts). Watson is ranked No. 3 in the 400m (47.28), while
Xavier Byers (high jump, 7-0.5),
Tyrone Jackson (60m hurdles, 7.93) and
Isaiah Webster (triple jump, 49-8.5) each are ranked fourth in their respective disciplines.
