DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Pittsburg State University softball team claimed both games of the second day of the Embry-Riddle Invitational at the Embry-Riddle Softball Field on Saturday (Jan. 31).
Pittsburg State (4-0) began the day with a 9-3 win over Mount Olive (0-4) and ended with a 13-7 win against Ferris State (2-2).
Against UMO, the Gorillas were led by
Taylor Lundien who went 4-of-4 with a pair of runs driven in.
Kadyn Trochim also finished with two RBI from a pair of hits. In the circle,
Sailor Hall picked up her first win in the cricle for Pitt State with four strikeouts in four innings.
Emma Crabb finished with 2.2 innings of relief, striking out five.
To end the day, Pittsburg State scored six times in the seventh inning to ensure a 13-7 win over FSU.
Heather Arnett tied a school record with five hits, while also scoring twice and her bases clearing triple representing the highest amount of runs driven in for the game.
Alleyna Rushing finished with four hits,
Haili Igou and Rushing tied for the team lead in the game with three runs scored. In the circle, Crabb picked up her first win with 1.2 innings of relief.
Up next for the Gorillas will be the Southern Colorado Crossover, beginning on Friday (Feb. 6). Pittsburg State is scheduled to play five games over three days in Colorado Springs and Pueblo, Colo.
