FORT SMITH, Ark. - The Pittsburg State University volleyball team picked up a three set win over the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Lions Friday (Oct. 9) at Gayle Kaundart Arena.
PSU (13-6, 1-4 MIAA) claimed the match with set scores of 25-19, 25-18, 25-19 over UAFS (14-7, 2-5 MIAA). For the match, Pitt State finished with a .262 hitting percentage, compared to a .069 from UAFS, while the Gorillas came away with 11 blocks and 68 digs.
Mason Palace finished with a season-high 12 kills (.357) from 28 attempts and 16 digs for a double-double performance.
Crystal Smith was the other member of the team to finish in double figures for kills with 10 (.313) and a match-high six total blocks.
Jesa Wallace (24) and
Brynna Zoeller (16) split setting duties while
Kassidy Nixon (17), Palace and Zoeller (11) led the team in digs.
To end the weekend, Pittsburg State will be in Tahlequah, Okla., to face off against the Northeastern State Unviersity RiverHawks Saturday (Oct. 10). First serve from the NSU Event Center is set for 6:00 p.m. (CT).
