PITTSBURG -- The Pittsburg State University baseball team will make its 2026 home debut this weekend with a three-game series against Maryville University at Al Ortolani Field. The Gorillas and Saints are scheduled to meet in 1 p.m. (CST) contests Friday and Saturday (Feb. 13-14) and wrap the series with a 1 p.m. match-up Sunday (Feb. 15).
Pitt State is unbeaten at 7-0 and ranked No. 6 in the most recent National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America (NCBWA) NCAA Division II Top 25 poll released Wednesday (Feb. 11). The Gorillas posted a 4-0 record at the Edmond First Pitch Classic last week. Pitt State outscored its opposition, 68-6, in victories over UMSL (25-1), Southeastern Oklahoma (6-4 & 18-1) and East Central (19-0).

The Gorillas debuted at No. 16 in the NCBWA D2 Preseason Top 25 poll after posting a 42-12 overall record last season and advancing to the NCAA-II Super Regional.

Maryville brings a 1-2 record into the series. The Saints claimed a 9-2 win in its season opener against Southern Arkansas on Feb. 6, before the Muleriders claimed victory in the next two games, 8-4 and 9-4.

As a team, the Gorillas are hitting .399 (3
rd in DII) early in the season. The Pitt State offense has averaged 13.9 hits a game (1
st in DII) while scoring 15.1 runs (2
nd in DII). The Gorillas also rank second nationally in on-base percentage (.522), third in bases on balls (54), fourth in doubles (22, 3.14 pg), sixth in triples (5, 0.71 pg), 10
th in slugging (.593) and 16
th in stolen bases (22, 3.14 pg).

On the mound, the Gorillas own a 2.00 ERA (3
rd in DII) with the ninth-fewest hits allowed per nine innings at 6.3 and the sixth-best WHIP at 1.09.

Individually, newcomer
Eric Bacon leads the squad and ranks second in the MIAA in batting average (.536). The junior outfielder has collected 15 hits, including four doubles and a triple, and scored 15 runs. Bacon leads the MIAA and ranks second in Division II in runs scored, while senior infielder
Jadyn McNealy (.381, 8 SB) and redshirt outfielder
Isaac Webb (.464, 3 2B, 10 RBI) are tied for third in D2 in runs scored (14). McNealy has the third-highest stolen base total in D2 this season.

Junior infielder
Landin Midgett was named the MIAA as well as the Central Region Hitter of the Week Wednesday after hitting .583 with four extra-base hits and 16 RBI in four games for the Gorillas last week. Midgett has a .471 batting average with three doubles, a home run and 21 RBI. He currently ranks third in Division II in RBI (21, 3.0 pg).

Senior outfielder
Dagen Brewer is hitting .500 with 13 runs scored, three home runs and 19 RBI. Brewer ranks in a tie for eighth nationally in runs scored and sixth nationally in RBI (2.71 pg). The Topeka native has hit safely in a Pitt State record 27 consecutive games dating back to the 2025 season.

On the mound, graduate righthander
Zach Voss and junior righthander are both 2-0 on the season. Voss has a 1.13 ERA with seven strikeouts in a pair of starts and 8.0 innings pitched. McClure has a 1.17 ERA in 7.2 innings of relief work over two appearances. Redshirt sophomore righthander
