PITTSBURG - The Pittsburg State University softball team picked up a ranked sweep over No. 24 McKendree University on Sunday (Feb. 22) at the Pittsburg State Softball Field.
Pittsburg State (17-0) claimed the first game of the doubleheader 10-2 in five innings and in game two finished a 6-2 victory in seven innings.
In game one,
Lexi Davis finished going 2-for-2 with a pair of runs driven in from a triple in the third inning.
Bailey Haselhorst led the team with three RBI from a double to left center in the fourth that enacted the run rule the next inning.
Ava Laurent (6-0) picked up the complete game win and struck out three Bearcats.
Game two, Pitt State was led by
Kadyn Trochim with three runs driven in as
Heather Arnett went 4-for-4 with two runs scored and drove in one run.
Lexi Franklin (4-0) pitched 6.0 innings with five strikeouts while
Emma Crabb finished the game with a shutout seventh inning.Â
Up next for Pittsburg State will be the Top Gun Invite in Shawnee, Kan., at the Mid American Sports Complex beginning on Friday (Feb. 27). The Gorillas are scheduled to play against Truman State, Concordia - St. Paul, Rockhurst and Winona State.
