Pitt State Set to Host 2026 MIAA Indoor Championships

PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University men's and women's indoor track & field teams will host the 2026 MIAA Indoor Championships Feb. 27 – Mar. 1 at the Robert W. Plaster Center/Harvey Dean Track.
 
Single day tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students/children (3-17). Three-day all session passes are available for $15.
 
Fans can watch the 2026 MIAA Indoor Track & Field Championships live on the MIAA Digital Network. For the first time in championships history, this year's broadcast will include specific event cameras to help provide enhanced coverage of the meet. Fans can purchase an individual camera for $10 or select a $15 weekend plan and gain access to all 12 web streams that will take place throughout the three-day meet.
 
The 2026 MIAA Indoor Championships starts Friday (Feb. 27) at 2 p.m. (CST) with action in the men's heptathlon. The women's pentathlon competition begins at 2:30 p.m. The final event in the pentathlon – the 800 meters – is scheduled for 7 p.m. (CLICK HERE for a full schedule of events)
 
On Saturday, the men's heptathlon resumes at 11:30 a.m. with the full meet starting at 2 p.m. Championship Sunday gets under way at Noon with team champions crowned at approximately 5 p.m.
 
The Pitt State women enter the 2026 MIAA Indoor Championships as the four-time defending conference indoor champions. The Gorillas have claimed eight of the last nine conference indoor crowns.

Pitt State finished the 2025 MIAA Indoor Championships at Maryville, Mo., with a record 222 points, besting second-place Northwest Missouri State University by 100 points. The Bearcats finished the meet with 112 points. Washburn University posted 103.5 points to finish in third place.

Pitt State posted the highest scoring total in MIAA Indoor Championships history for a second straight year, topping the previous high point total of 221 points set by the Gorillas at the 2024 MIAA Indoor Championships at Topeka.

Pitt State, which went on to claim the 2025 NCAA Division II Indoor National Championship a year ago, is ranked No. 1 in the most recent USTFCCCA NCAA Division II National Rating Index (TFRI). Missouri Southern State University is ranked No. 16 in the national index, while the University of Central Missouri (17th), NWMSU (21st) and Fort Hays State University (22nd) also are ranked in the top 25 nationally.

The Pitt State men, the five-time defending MIAA Indoor Champions, have won nine of the last 12 conference indoor titles. The Gorillas posted 218.5 points – the highest point total in MIAA Indoor Championships history – to beat MIAA runner-up Northwest Missouri by 99.5 points. The Bearcats finished the meet with 119 points, while third-place Washburn University totaled 84 points.

Pitt State, the three-time defending NCAA Division II National Champion, is the No. 3 ranked squad in NCAA Division II in the TFRI this season. NWMSU (6th), MSSU (13th), the University of Nebraska-Kearney (20th) and WU (21st) also are included in the top 25.

This will be 85th all-time MIAA Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships dating back to 1932. UCM holds the lead for MIAA indoor titles with 21. UCM and Pitt State have combined to win 29 of the past 33 MIAA indoor titles dating back to 1993.

This will mark the 45th all-time MIAA Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships. Pitt State has claimed a conference-leading 11 MIAA indoor titles since the meet's inception in 1982.
 
The meet will serve as the final regular season action for the 2026 indoor season.  Qualifiers for the 2026 NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships – scheduled for Mar. 13-14 at Virginia Beach, Va. – will be announced next week.
