PITTSBURG -- The Pittsburg State University baseball team will travel to Fort Smith, Ark., to battle the University of Arkansas Fort Smith in a three-game MIAA series beginning Friday (Feb. 27). First pitch is set for 1 p.m. (CST) each day, Friday through Sunday.
Pitt State is unbeaten at 14-0 on the season (4-0 MIAA). The Gorillas are ranked No. 2 in the most recent National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America (NCBWA) NCAA Division II Top 25 poll released Wednesday (Feb. 25) and No. 7 in the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Top 30 poll released Tuesday (Feb. 24).

Pitt State swept a three-game MIAA home series against Missouri Western State University last week and a mid-week match-up against Newman University Tuesday. The Gorillas defeated the Griffons 8-2, 7-2 and 4-3 last week and Pitt State defeated the Jets, 20-2, the last time out.

UAFS brings a 1-11 record into the series (0-3 MIAA). The Lions are seeking to halt a six-game losing streak. UAFS was swept in a three-game home series against Emporia State University last weekend and the Lions also dropped a 19-7 decision to Henderson State University Tuesday.

The Gorillas currently rank third in Division II in scoring, averaging 12.7 runs per game, and fourth nationally in batting average (.380). Pitt State's pitchers also carry the third-best ERA (2.23) in the nation and the Gorillas rank third nationally in WHIP (1.02). Defensively, the Gorillas rank sixth in D2 in fielding percentage (.989).

Pitt State leads the MIAA in batting average (.38), slugging (.595), runs (178), hits (178), triples (9), RBI (170), ERA (2.23), WHIP (1.02), opponent batting average (.199) and fielding percentage (.989).

Individually, senior outfielder
Dagen Brewer leads the MIAA with a .520 batting average. He has 21 runs scored, eight doubles, five home runs and 32 RBI to his credit. He leads Division II in RBI (2.29 pg) and shares the league lead in HRs to date. The Topeka native has hit safely in an MIAA record 34 consecutive games dating back to the 2025 season.

Eric Bacon ranks second in the MIAA in batting average (.517). The junior outfielder has collected 31 hits, including five doubles and two triples, and scored 29 runs. Bacon leads the MIAA and ranks second in Division II in runs scored, while junior infielder
Jadyn McNealy (.348, 24 runs, 18 SB) leads D2 in stolen bases and ranks sixth nationally in runs scored.
