PITTSBURG -- The Pittsburg State University baseball team will travel to Edmond, Okla., for week two of the 2026 season and compete in the Edmond First Pitch Classic. Hosted by the University of Central Oklahoma, games will be played on campus at Wendell Simmons Field, Thursday through Sunday (Feb. 5-8).

Coming off a 3-0 opening weekend against Southern Arkansas University, the Gorillas are scheduled to face Missouri-St. Louis (Thursday, 10 a.m.), Southeastern Oklahoma (Friday, 10 a.m. & Sunday, 10 a.m.) and East Central (Saturday, 4 p.m.).

Ranked No. 16 in the NCAA Division II Preseason Top 25 Poll released by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America (NCBWA) (Jan. 28), the Gorillas are coming off a 42-12 overall record last season that saw them qualify for the NCAA Division II National Tournament and advance to an NCAA-II Super Regional.

As a team, the Gorillas are hitting .388 (6
th in DII) early in the season. The Pitt State offense has averaged 13.3 hits a game (19
th in DII) while scoring 12.7 runs (4
th in DII). On the mound, the Gorillas own a 2.25 ERA (10
th in DII) with the second-fewest hits allowed per nine innings at 4.5 and the fifth-best WHIP at 1.00.

Individually, newcomers
Isaac Webb (.615) and
Eric Bacon (.571) each finished the opening weekend with eight hits. Webb tallied six runs scored, five runs driven in, two triples, two stolen bases and two doubles. Bacon has a team-leading seven runs scored to go with six RBI and two doubles.

Preseason All-American
Dagen Brewer is hitting .462 with six hits, six runs scored and six RBI. Rounding out the qualified hitters to bat over .300 are newcomers
Grant Nottlemann (.444) and
Jadyn McNealy (.333).

On the mound,
Cason Long (0.00 ERA, 2 IP),
Zach Voss (2.25 ERA, 4 IP) and
Bradyn McClure (2.25 ERA, 4 IP) collected wins from the opening weekend. McClure recorded a team-high five strikeouts and limited opponents to a .091 average, while Voss struck out four and opponents hit. 143.

UMSL will make its season debut against Pittsburg State. The Tritons were picked eighth in the GLVC Preseason Poll last month. SEOSU enters the weekend action with a 1-0 record. The Savage Storm defeated Northeastern State Tuesday (Feb. 3). ECU also will make its season debut this week after losing a four-game series against Newman due to weather last week.
