EDMOND, Okla. --
Dagen Brewer smacked a grand slam home run and drove in five runs to spark the Pittsburg State University baseball team to a 6-4 victory over Southeastern Oklahoma State University Friday (Feb. 6).
The No. 16 ranked Gorillas remained unbeaten on the young season, improving to 5-0 overall following day two action at the Edmond First Pitch Classic at Wendell Simmons Field on the campus of MIAA rival Central Oklahoma. Pitt State will continue with tournament play Saturday (Feb. 7) with a 4 p.m. (CST)Â match-ups against East Central (Okla.).
The Gorillas overcame an early 2-0 deficit Saturday after falling behind by a pair of runs in the first inning. Brewer belted his third home run of the season with one out in the third inning to stake Pitt State to a 4-2 lead. His blow came after
Jaron Cotton and
Jadyn McNealy delivered back-to-back hits, including a double by Cotton, and
Eric Bacon walked to load the bases.
Landin Midgett added a sacrifice fly later in the inning as the Gorillas plated five runs and sent nine batters to the plate in the frame.
Brewer, who has hit safely in a school record 25 consecutive games dating back to the 2025 campaign, added a run-scoring fielder's choice for an insurance run in the top of the ninth inning.

Bradyn McClure (2-0), the third pitcher to throw in the game, tossed 3.2 scoreless innings to pick up his second win in as many outings for the Gorillas. He allowed one hit and fanned five batters.
Cooper Crouch picked up his first save of the year by tossing a clean ninth inning.
SEOSU (1-1) outhit Pitt State, 10-6, in the contest, but Savage Storm pitchers issued four walks and hit a pair of Gorillas batters.
