Gorillas Blank ECU Tigers, 19-0

EDMOND, Okla. -- The Pittsburg State University baseball team improved to 6-0 on the season with a lopsided 19-0 victory over East Central University Saturday (Feb. 7) in the Edmond First Pitch Classic.

The Gorillas jumped on the Tigers for two runs in the first inning and six more in the second frame to take control early.

Landin Midgett continued his run producing ways going 2-for-3 with a double and five RBI in the contest. Midgett has now driven in 18 runs through six games.

Isaac Webb had three hits and drove in three runs, while Dagen Brewer went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Cooper Wesslund also drive in three runs, while Landon Bruce scored three runs.
The Gorillas produced 14 hits in the game and benefited from 13 walks on the afternoon.

Starter Zach Voss (2-0) scattered three runs over 4.0 innings of work. Ty Blecha allowed two hits in 2.0 innings of relief and Paxton Starnes closed out the ninth inning on the combined five-hit shutout.

Pitt State will close out the four-day tournament action with a 10 a.m. contest against Southeastern Oklahoma State University Sunday.
