Seventh Inning Rally Keeps Gorillas Perfect, Down Grizzlies & ThunderWolves

PUEBLO, Colo. - The Pittsburg State University softball team picked up a pair of wins on the second day of the Southern Colorado Crossover at the Rawlings Softball Complex on Saturday (Feb. 7) against the Adams State University Grizzlies and Colorado State University - Pueblo ThunderWolves.

Pitt State (8-0) began the day against ASU (0-8), coming away with an 11-0 five inning run rule victory. Kadyn Trochim led the team with four RBI, going 2-of-2 with two walks drawn, Heather Arnett and Bailey Haselhorst tied for the team lead with three runs scored. Sailor Hall threw four shutout innings in the circle, striking out three with Erica Schertz collecting the final three outs.

To end the day, Pittsburg State picked up a 2-1 comeback win over CSUP with both runs for the Gorillas coming in the seventh inning. Leading off the inning, Hall connected on her first home run as a Gorilla to tie it up 1-1 before a Heather Arnett bunt and score from a throwing error by the ThunderWolves pitcher gave PSU the 2-1 lead. Ava Laurent closed the door on CSUP with a shutout seventh and picked up her second win of the season following a complete game, seven strikeout performance. 

Pittsburg State and Colorado State - Pueblo will sqaure off in a single game on Sunday (Feb. 8) at 11:00 a.m. (CST) at the Rawlings Softball Complex to conclude the Southern Colorado Crossover.
