PITTSBURG -- The Pittsburg State University baseball team entertain Drury University in a non-conference home game Tuesday (Mar. 17). First pitch is set for 3 p.m. (CDT) at Al Ortolani Field.
Pittsburg State is 22-2 overall and 12-2 in MIAA play. The Gorillas ascended to the No. 1 ranking in the most recent National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America (NCBWA) NCAA Division II Top 25 poll released last Wednesday (Mar. 11); and Pitt State is ranked No. 4 nationally in the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Top 30 poll released Mar. 10.

Pitt State took two of three games in a home series vs. No. 7/6 University of Central Missouri last weekend. It marked the first time in 13 years that the Gorillas claimed a series win over the Mules.
posted a 21-4 home win over Newman University Wednesday, after taking two of three games in an MIAA road series against then No. 15 Emporia State University last weekend.

Drury is 12-8 on the season. The Panthers posted a 4-1 record last week, including taking three of four games in a weekend series against Lewis University. Drury also scored a 14-13 victory over No. 9 Grand Valley State University last Tuesday (Mar. 10). The Panthers are 2-4 vs. nationally-ranked teams this season. DU also posted a 9-7 win over No. 2 UCM in Springfield, Mo., on Feb. 10.

The Gorillas rank among the national leaders in scoring (12.8 rpg), batting average (.373), hits (308), slugging percentage (.573), on-base percentage (.467), earned-run average (3.57) and fielding percentage (.977). Pitt State leads the MIAA in batting average, runs, hits, home runs, RBI, slugging, on-base percentage and ERA.

Senior outfielder
Dagen Brewer leads the MIAA with a .506 batting average. He has collected 42 hits, with 14 doubles and nine home runs, scored 38 runs and compiled 49 RBI. Brewer ranks second in D2 in RBI (2.04 pg) and slugging (1.024). The Topeka native was named the Division II Hitter of the Week on Mar. 5 after hitting .857 (12-14) with three doubles, four home runs and 14 RBI in four games. Brewer set an MIAA record for consecutive games hitting streak at 37 games earlier this season.

Junior outfielder
Eric Bacon is hitting .443 with 42 runs scored, eight doubles, two home runs and 36 RBI. He leads the MIAA and ranks second in D2 in runs scored. Bacon also leads the MIAA in hits (43) and ranks second in the conference in batting average.

Jadyn McNealy (.371, 39 runs, 26 SB) leads D2 in stolen bases and ranks fourth nationally in runs scored. Senior outfielder
Isaac Webb is slashing .356/.442/.655 on the season. He has eight doubles, three triples, four home runs and 37 RBI to date. Junior infielder
Landin Midgett also is batting .382 with eight doubles, four HRs and 38 RBI. Midgett garnered NCAA-II Central Region Hitter of the Week honors on Feb. 11.
