MARYVILLE, Mo. – John Connors doubled home the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift Northwest Missouri State University to a 2-1 win over No. 1/2 Pittsburg State University Saturday (Mar. 28).
The win locked up a series victory for the Bearcats (21-9, 11-5 MIAA) over the visiting Gorillas (26-5, 15-5 MIAA), after NWMSUÂ posted an 11-9 walkoff win in 10 innings Friday night. The two squads will wrap up the series with a 1 p.m. (CDT) contest Sunday at Bearcat Baseball Field.
Pitt State starter
Zach Voss (6-2) pitched into the eighth inning before allowing a walk to Frank Gall and Connors' run-scoring double. He limited NWMSU to two runs and five hits over 7.1 inning of work.
NWMSU reliever Tyson Hilsabeck entered the game in the second inning and tossed 5.1 innings of no-hit ball to quiet one of the most potent lineups in D2 baseball.
