MARYVILLE, Mo. – Frank Gall singled home Austin Marsh with the winning run in the bottom of the 11th inning to lift Northwest Missouri State University to a 9-8 win and a series sweep of No. 1/2 Pittsburg State University Sunday (Mar. 29).
The Gorillas slipped to 26-6 overall (15-6 MIAA) following the loss, while the Bearcats exited the series at 22-9 (12-5 MIAA).
Pitt State built an early 6-0 lead in the contest, but the Gorillas eventually needed
Grant Nottlemann's RBI single in the top of the ninth to knot the score at 8-8.
Eric Bacon,
Isaac Webb,
Cooper Wesslund,
Seth Dandridge and
Andrew Branson all had two hits in the contest. Webb and Dandridge had two RBI apiece, while Bacon scored two runs.
The Gorillas will travel to Hays, Kan., next Thursday (Apr. 2) to open a three-game MIAA series against Fort Hays State University.
