PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University men's and women's outdoor track & field teams will host the PSU Tune-Up Meet Sunday (Apr. 19) at the Gorillas' new facility.

The meet originally was scheduled for Saturday (Apr. 18) but has been pushed back a day due to the weekend weather forecast.

Field events begin at 10 a.m. (CDT) while action on the track gets under way at 2:30 p.m. Admission is $10, $8 for senior citizens (55 & older). Children 12 & under and PSU students (with a valid I.D.) are free.
The field of competitors includes MIAA rivals Missouri Southern and Missouri Western and national power Minnesota State. Approximately 650 athletes are entered in the meet.

The Pitt State men enter Sunday's action ranked No. 3 in the most recent USTFCCCA NCAA Division II National Track & Field Ratings Index (TFRI), while the Pitt State women are ranked No. 2 nationally. Among the men's field, Minnesota State is ranked No. 2 and MSSU is ranked No. 10. The MSSU women are ranked No. 4 and Minnesota State is ranked No. 5.
The Pitt State women have a pair of national leaders –
Breanne Peters in the pole vault (13-10) and
Jazmine Williamson in the long jump (20-7.75) – and 15 top 10 national marks.

Jack Haukap leads Division II in the men's hammer throw (230-6) and the Pitt State men currently hold six top 10 national parks.
